Ranging and Localization Kit
The P452 Ranging and Localization Development Kit is your fast track to exploring the 1D peer-to-peer ranging and communications capabilities of the P452 radios and enabling the creation of 2D or 3D navigation or tracking networks. Whether you’re interested in random access (ALOHA), time-slotted (TDMA), or code-based (CDMA) network design, this Kit is designed to get you started quickly and efficiently.
Kit Hardware & Accessories
The P452 Ranging and Localization Development Kit is built around the P452 module, offering wireless distance measurement with an impressive accuracy of 2 cm and measurement rates up to 125 Hz. The P452s are capable of ranging from 300 to 1100 meters depending on the implementation, or even further using amplified power or higher gain antennas. The P452 also supports data communication.
Built for industrial applications, the P452 is designed to function in extreme environments, from -40°C to +85°C, and withstands high shock and vibration. It operates across the 4.0 to 4.6 GHz band, is fully 5G-compatible, and complies with both FCC and EU regulations for UWB RF emissions. This kit is an ideal solution for collision avoidance, autonomous navigation, and industrial machine positioning, making it an easy choice for developers looking to integrate cutting-edge ranging technology into their projects.
The Kit is available in both standard power (US FCC Part 15 and EU ETSI EN compliant) and high power (experimental operation only) versions.
You’ll be measuring 1D distances with centimeter-scale precision within minutes and could have a flexible and configurable 2D/3D location network up and running in a single afternoon. The Kit comes bundled with our RangeNet software that allows for the easy configuration of advanced radio networks with P452s utilized as both the fixed anchors and the mobile units. The intuitive GUI allows users to easily visualize what is happening in the network and smooths the transition to working directly with the RangeNet API to create custom systems.
RangeNet lets the user engage at the level that is right for them. The ranging layer uses a Two-Way Time-of-Flight (TW-TOF) ranging conversation to measure distance with high precision. The networking layer automates the ranging process and allows users the option of creating custom networks which support random access or synchronous time-based/code-based scheduling. The location layer takes those coordinated range measurements and converts them into real-time 2D or 3D locations. The mobiles initiate the ranging conversations and calculate their own positions without the need for a connected host, which is ideal for the autonomous navigation of vehicles and robots.
RangeNet also turns your PC or laptop into a digitizing oscilloscope – allowing you to display waveforms in real-time and log them to disk for post-processing analysis. This is especially useful for characterizing performance in challenging, high mulitpath environments.
